I’m sitting on the floor in front of the Christmas tree writing this, my final blog post of the year. It’s a good thing too, because I am winding down like a clockwork toy whose winder’s got jammed. My out of office has been on since Monday, I’m teaching my last yoga class tonight and I’m looking forward to a few weeks of rest and re-charging.
You’re probably feeling the winding down thing too (especially with the winter solstice a.k.a the most yin day of the year coming up tomorrow). So I’ll keep this short.
You might remember I recently wrote about changing my blog posting schedule from twice a week to once a week. I wrote about how that schedule was here to stay at least for a while. Well, guess what? Plans have changed! I’ve broken my own rule. In my last coaching session of the year with Jen Carrington I was discussing this blog. In particular I was talking about how it sometimes felt a bit redundant to keep putting out content whilst I was in the middle of figuring out my business, this website and the content that I offer. “But”, I said, “I keep doing it because I like writing and I know it’s good to regularly produce content”. And then she said “but maybe writing the posts isn’t the best use of your time right now” and something along the mind-blowing lines of “maybe you should stop for a bit to give yourself space to work on the website”.
Why hadn’t I thought of that? Because I was stuck in with the ‘should gremlins’ again, that’s why. As soon as she said it I saw it for the amazing idea that it is. So here I am, writing to tell you that I won’t be writing anymore blogs this year. Not only that but I won’t be writing them until around the end of January (my goal date for getting my new site launched).
In the meantime I’m going to eat lots of mince pies, snuggle up by the Christmas tree, watch movies and read. Then I’ll ease myself out of my hibernation with some yoga, and spend some time with the ideas. I’ll write, I’ll ponder, I’ll consume content that will help me get to where I want to be. In the new year I’ll create a site that reflects who I’ve become, all that my business is, and who I can help you become.
Stay tuned. I’ll be back, and next year will be one hell of a journey too. And remember, where we’re going we don’t need rules; we only need to follow our intuition. Right now mine’s telling me to get off this damned computer and enjoy a proper Christmas break. See you on the other side.
Peace, love, light and so much joy to you.
