Write a manifesto for living, but remember to look at it

I have a manifesto written on a chalkboard by my front door. I wrote it in my journal a few months ago and decided it was something I wanted to see everyday. I actually didn’t realise it until now, but it’s my manifesto for living. I don’t follow it as much as I should. And, like most things in plain view, I don’t really take it in everyday. It’s just there. I really love it though, and want to change how I look at it. So it becomes something that offers me something new to think about each day, rather than just part of the furniture.

My manifesto for living

Be brave, be bold.

Have the confidence to really live life.

Take pleasure, be slower, be true and honest.

Really love. Just live.

Invest in yourself, connect to your dreams.

Notice things. Allow yourself to be happy.

Follow your urges. Allow yourself to do the bizarre, the ‘that could be good’ things.

Take all the moments, and the chances.

Embody a good spirit.

Do what you want.

Listen to your gut.

Do it!

Write your own manifesto for living

This is such a good exercise and really isn’t as hard as you might think. Just take a quiet moment with a pen and paper and write whatever comes to mind. You could even set a timer on your phone, you’d be surprised what you can get done in as little as 5 minutes! Oh, and don’t forget to really look at it from time to time once you’ve written it!

If you create a manifesto for living I’d love to read it. Send it over by email (ellen.beingchange[at]gmail.com), or share it with the community in the comments below.
